I was thinking last night before bed, and “pulling thoughts under” came into my mind for some reason. This is one of the HUGEST struggles that I have had in my entire life, and it never seems to end.
If we are focusing on negative things that take our focus off of God, or (sometimes in my case) worries that we’ve created to be bigger than they are (or just created lol) then those thoughts are above (exalted above) God. If those thoughts are above God, then that means that they are in between God and us, so when we look up and try to seek God..all we see is the thought or the issue.
“4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:4-5″
When you bring something into captivity, it literally means to take something and make it a prisoner. Before someone is a prisoner you must first arrest them.
Arrest: To seize by legal authority or warrant, to take into custody
-We have legal AUTHORITY through Jesus to take those thoughts into custody and execute (KILL) them. We can’t allow negative thoughts and issues to take up God’s SPACE. We have to pull them underneath us. When we do that we leave clear space for God to move and bring clarity instead of clouds. I’m learning to examine every thought before it clouds up my personal space with God. Let’s learn together 🙂
